Why we built fotoya.tokyo
Life is busy: work, school, family, a move to a new country. Booking a photo studio, changing into a suit and getting your hair done is hard to fit in. And yet the day you need a proper photo always comes suddenly: an application due tomorrow, a rirekisho for a new job, a company ID card, a LinkedIn profile.
fotoya.tokyo is a photo studio that gets you ready without leaving home. From the selfie you already have, it makes a job-hunting portrait in a suit or a polished career-change photo, with no changing and no booking, for ¥800, the price of a Japanese photo booth, with four versions to choose from. You see a free preview of your own face before you pay.
A studio means a booking, thousands of yen or more and days of waiting. Overseas AI headshot apps ask for 10–20 photos and may keep them for a long time. fotoya.tokyo needs one selfie and no account; your selfie is never stored, and your photos are deleted after 30 days. We built it to make the important days a little easier for busy people.
How it works, technically
One selfie, no model training
Many AI headshot services train a per-user AI model from 10–25 photos. fotoya.tokyo uses a pre-trained model to generate a headshot from just one selfie while preserving your facial identity.
Your selfie is never stored
Your uploaded selfie is processed in server memory only while your photos are generated, then discarded. It's never written to storage, reused, or used as training data.
Generated photos are encrypted and kept for 30 days
Generated headshots are encrypted with a per-order key and stored on AWS S3 (Tokyo region). You can download them from your private link for 30 days after payment; after that they're deleted automatically. You can also delete them anytime from the result page.
